Extraction of parameters from EMG signals for the biofeedback electrical stimulation

چکیده
This study was performed to extract the meaningful parameters from EMG signals, which could be used as biofeedback parameters for the rehabilitation treatment. Five males and five females subjects were participated for the experiment, and the EMGs with and without electrical stimulation were acquired for analysis. Zero-crossings, turns/second, and median frequency were extracted and analyzed to evaluate the effectiveness of pre and post electrical stimulation. Results showed the significant differences in muscle strengths and muscle fatigues between pre and post electrical stimulation. It was concluded that the parameters extracted could be used for the development of intelligent EMG biofeedback system.

Generating the Visual Biofeedback Signals Applicable to Reduction of Wrist Spasticity: A Pilot Study on Stroke Patients
Introduction: Application of biofeedback techniques in rehabilitation has turned into an exciting research area during the recent decade. Providing an appropriate visual or auditory biofeedback signal is the most critical requirement of a biofeedback technique. In this regard, changes in Surface Electromyography (SEMG) signals during wrist movement can be used to generate an indictable visual b...
متن کاملA Unique Approach of Noise Elimination from Electroencephalography Signals between Normal and Meditation State
In this paper, unique approach is presented for the electroencephalography (EEG) signals analysis. This is based on Eigen values distribution of a matrix which is called as scaled Hankel matrix. This gives us a way to find out the number of Eigen values essential for noise reduction and extraction of signal in singular spectrum analysis. This paper gives us an approach to classify the EEG signa...

Background and Aims: The purpose of this study was to compare the efficacy and usability of human-computer interface in cervical spinal cord injury with two computer games based and EMG biofeedback. Methods: The sample size was 20 participants (healthy and spinal cervical lesions) who were selected as available. The statistical population of the study was spinal cord injury patients referred t...
متن کاملPhysiological Study of Tes by Exact Active-assistive System
We developed a system that gave electrical stimulation with intensity in proportion to the voluntary EMG through the EMG recording electrodes, and used it for hemiplegic traning. The training effect was observed in long (a month of the training) and short (ten minutes after the training) period. We investigated this training effect of this system physiologically. We carried out two experiments;...
متن کاملExtraction of Sensory part of Ulnar Nerve Signal Using Blind Source Separation Method
A recorded nerve signal via an electrode is composed of many evokes or action potentials, (originated from individual axons) which may be considered as different initial sources. Recovering these primitive sources in its turn may lead us to the anatomic originations of a nerve signal which will give us outstanding foresights in neural rehabilitations. Accordingly, clinical interests may be r...
